Review - Aced by K. Bromberg

Title: Aced
Series: Driven #5
Author: K. Bromberg
Release Date: January 11, 2016

Rylee and Colton's ride continues...

One moment. Six years ago.

The night she made the world around me so much more than just a blur. Now it's the catalyst that threatens to tear us apart.

Our happily was supposed to be ever after. So why do I feel like it's slipping through my fingers?

How can one moment, when our world seemed so right, resurface and cause our perfect life to spiral out of control?

I can't lose her.

She's my checkered flag.

Wow! I was so flippin’ excited about Aced and it was even more amazing than I expected! I couldn’t read it fast enough!

We get to see the time between Rylee’s pregnancy and Ace’s birth so make sure that you read the Driven Trilogy first before you read Aced. (And if you haven’t, what are you waiting for?!?)

Colton, still one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends, continues to make me swoon!

“Fucking Rylee. My breath. My life. My kryptonite.”

And sweet, sweet Rylee, there could never be a more perfect woman for Colton.

“He only sees me. I take comfort in the thought. That even amid all this chaos swirling around us, my husband only sees me. That I can still stop the blur for him. That I’m still his spark.”

Aced takes you on a wild ride of emotions.

“You’re only alive if you bruise.”

I laughed, I cried, I needed new panties. I loved seeing the bromance between Colton and Becks still going strong. I adored seeing both Rylee’s and Colton’s families as well as Haddie, a true BFF.

There is so much I want to say but I don’t want to spoil anything so I am leaving you with READ THIS BOOK! If you are a true Colton fan, you will not be disappointed. Just make sure you have the tissues, and spare panties on hand—or just go without, it will probably be easier.

Ms. Bromberg, thank you for sharing this glimpse into Rylee and Colton’s lives. It couldn’t have more perfect!

I forgot just how much I love Rylee and Colton Donovan. Aced picks up six years after they got married. They’re living their own version of happily ever after, but just like everyone else, their life isn’t perfect—there are stresses. Colton is chasing the Cup. Rylee has a new boy in The House that she’s trying to connect with. Oh, and she’s pregnant—with a bit of high blood pressure that has the doctor and Colton worrying about her too. Just normal every day stress that’s manageable under normal circumstances. But nothing about Colton and Rylee’s relationship has ever been normal, or simple or quiet.

How will Rylee and Colton cope when the shit hits the fan? When they’re thrust into the forefront of social media and paparazzi? How will they manage to keep living their normal? It’s what happens when life gets turned upside down and backwards that you find out just how strong your relationship is. How strong the love bond is. How strong someone can be when their other isn’t.

I loved catching up with Rylee and Colton. Seeing how they were living their life between the end of Crashed and the Epilogue. I loved seeing the growth in their relationship. That their love was still so strong and powerful. Even through their struggles, their love for each other shined through—there was nothing that was going to break them. Bend them yes, but not break.

Colton. Rylee. Becks. Haddie. All the gang’s here! I was late to the Driven party—like, almost two years late. But when I finally started, I fell in love with all of them for so many reasons. When I heard about Aced, I couldn’t wait to read it.

Aced is about growth. Growth individually, and growth as a couple. Colton and Rylee are two beautifully broken people who, when brought together, heal each other and themselves, and all becomes right with the world. But when a special moment from their past becomes public, their world spirals out of control and everyone waits for the other shoe to drop…

Fucking Rylee. My breath. My life. My kryptonite.

Colton bears the responsibility for the chaos in their lives and can’t let go. He loves her with all that he is and more. His willingness to do anything in his power to take care of her and keep her happy and healthy is such a part of who he is instinctually, and I was excited to see his personality shine through and not get lost after so long between books.

You race me.

And for the first time since we’ve met, I truly understand why Colton finds such refuge in his beloved beach—the crash of the waves, the feel of the sand beneath his feet, and the sense he’s this tiny blip on Mother Nature’s radar.

For any person who’s ever found solace at the beach, they truly understand that statement. Rylee was finally understanding the peace that Colton can find in his little slice of heaven. As I was reading that piece of the book my heart just soared. I love the beach, the soothing of the waves, the calmness that washes over me and yet the unpredictability of the seas.

This portion of Colton and Rylee’s story is complex and trying. It’s real and full of struggle. A myriad of emotions raced through my body as I became part of their story; anxiety, anticipation, heartbreak, love—extreme amounts of love—desire, wonder, and an overall sense of kindness.

There are so many stories left to tell and I wonder if we’ll ever find out what happens to this amazing cast of characters, but for now, I’m happy and satisfied.
