Reviews - The Fowler Sisters Series by Monica Murphy

Title: Owning Violet
Series: The Fowler Sisters #1
Author: Monica Murphy
Publisher: Bantam
Release Date: December 2, 2014

New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy begins a sexy new contemporary romance series—perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—that introduces three sisters born to wealth, raised to succeed, ready to love, destined to make waves.

I’ve moved through life doing what’s expected of me. I’m the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and survived. The one who devoted herself to her family’s business empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We were going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.

Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it’s for the best, between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary—perhaps even more so. He’s also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.

One stolen moment, a kiss, a touch . . . and I’m hooked. Ryder’s like a powerful drug, and I’m an addict who doesn’t want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren’t pure, and I believe him. For once, I don’t care. I’m willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart. My soul.

My everything.

I can proudly say that I am a Monica Murphy virgin no more and I can't believe it took me so long to crack open one of her books because Owning Violet was amazing! It was mondo HOT, captivating, beautiful, and just an absolute joy to read! I wholeheartedly LOVED this book!!!

Violet Fowler is the dutiful-prim-and-proper-perfect-but-supposedly-boring Fowler sister. She's sensible, elegant, polite, and classy and Ryder McKay wants nothing more than to dirty her up and see if she's really Miss Prim and Proper or if she can let loose. And Violet's all for letting Ryder dirty her up! Sometimes she absolutely cannot stand the man, but he makes her feel things she never has before and for the first time in her life, she wants to embrace those feelings and see what it's like to be completely owned by a man--as long as that man is Ryder.

I. Loved. Ryder. McKay!!! Oh my gosh! He totally stole my heart just like he did Violet's! I'll admit--and he does too--that his motivations for chasing after Violet aren't pure in the beginning and he can be a real jerk sometimes, but he really is a good guy at heart and it doesn't take him long before he realizes that she's special and means something to him. You also can't forget that the man is SMOKIN' HOT!!! Ryder is a total bad boy, he's so possessive, and commanding! He's just hot, hot, hot!!!

Violet was a great heroine! She considers herself the boring sister, but she's far from it! She's driven, smart, strong, and she can be a total Ms. Sassy Pants with Ryder. I loved that and her!

There was so much about Owning Violet that I loved, but the thing I loved the most was Violet and Ryder's relationship. I know that kind of seems like a no brainer, but it doesn't make it any less true. They were just perfect for each other. They helped each other to change and become better, stronger people. I really loved their chemistry, how they challenged each other, and especially how they cared for and about each other. I could easily see them staying my favorite couple throughout this series, but I guess I'll just have to wait until I read Lily and Rose's stories to know for sure.

Owning Violet is has a little heartbreak, a barrel full of secrets and manipulations, and a whole ton of heat, but more than anything, it's a story about finding yourself, discovering your real wants and needs, and becoming a better, happier person for it. It's also shows that love can be hiding in the most unlikely places, you just keep on open mind and heart.

Owning Violet is a standalone told from both Violet and Ryder's POV and it does have an HEA ending! I positively loved this wonderful book, it owned me, and I can't wait to read the next one!!!

Owning Violet was an addictive, sexy read. I couldn’t put it down. I HAD to know what was going to happen next!

We meet Violet, the middle sister of the Fowler’s. She is the good girl, the responsible one. She works at her family’s cosmetic company, Fleur. She had a hard past, but got over it and thought she moved on. She thought he boyfriend was going to propose and she would live the life she was supposed to. She was ready for it, even if Zachary cheated on her. However, she didn’t expect such a connection with another man.

Ryder works in the packaging department at Fleur. He is a hard worker, sexy, and strong. He is also a tattooed, pierced bad boy underneath the suit. Swoon!!! He is wanted by all the women in the company, and while he has an unconventional relationship with Pilar, another woman at the company, he is drawn to Violet.

“There’s something about her shy, reserved personality that drives me out of my fucking mind. That makes me want to drive her out of her fucking mind.”

The chemistry between the two is explosive.

“Touch my pussy,” I whisper, pleasure bolting through me when I see approval fill his gaze. “Lick it. Suck my clit. Make me come, Ryder. Please. I need you.”

You can literally feel the sparks leaping off the pages every time they are together. The sexual tension is intense! I love how Violet is able to open up and be herself when she is with Ryder.

“Teach me how to give myself up to the pleasure and worry about every else later,” I murmur close to his ear.
He allows her to open up and let go of the persona everyone expects from her.

Will what starts off as a mind game turn into something more? Will Violet and Ryder end up together or will she go back to the safe route with Zachary? Read and find out all the answers! It is a must read! I can’t wait to read the next one in the series!

Title: Stealing Rose
Series: The Fowler Sisters #2
Author: Monica Murphy
Publisher: Bantam
Release Date: March 3, 2015

It's time for this nice girl to be naughty.

Rose Fowler stays out of the limelight, although working always behind the scenes for Fleur Cosmetics leaves her feeling unappreciated. Until one night at a glittering party in Cannes, it's her turn to step forward - to say no to her father, to outshine her sisters, to walk away from it all - straight into the arms of a gorgeous stranger.

But what if mysterious Caden is more than she bargained for? He makes her feel sexy and free, yet there's something dangerous about him too.

Maybe their 'chance' meeting wasn't so random. Maybe he was looking for her for a reason. Whatever his motive, there's no going back now. And maybe she doesn't want to.

I loved Owning Violet, so I was really excited to read Rose's story and it did not surprise me that I loved her story!! I really enjoyed getting into Rose's head and seeing how different she was, but in some ways she was the same as Violet. It was an entertaining, fantastic book and I completely loved it!

I have to say that at first, I wasn't too sure about Caden, I didn't really like the first glimpse we got into his head. He just seemed like an arrogant jerk, but I decided to give him a chance and the benefit of the doubt. It didn't take him long before he had me swooning and loving him! He turned out to be an awesome hero. Caden is possessive, caring, very take-charge, and man, oh man, can he talk dirty! Caden is definitely one hot alpha and I have no doubts he'll steal your heart like he did mine!

Rose had a big personality in Owning Violet and you will see that side of her, but there is a lot more to her. She's strong, but a little vulnerable and confused, she's sweet, passionate, and has a big heart. I loved her character!

Stealing Rose won't make your heart hurt as much as it did in the first book, but it will definitely pinch it. It's so HOT and beautiful and funny. I laughed quite a bit, smiled a lot, and teared up a little. I was very happy with how it turned out, and I wouldn't change anything--I just loved it. Once again, it's also really super HOT... that elevator scene... it was just hot, hot, hot, HOT!!

Stealing Rose is a standalone, it's told from Caden and Rose's POV, and they have a wonderful HEA ending! I love this series and I can't wait to read Lily's book!

I sure am a sucker for a bad boy changing his ways when he finds the right woman, and that is exactly what happens in Stealing Rose. It was a sexy, passionate, hot, and fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

We meet Rose, the baby of the Fowler sisters. We met her in the first The Fowler Sisters book, Owning Violet, but this is her story. She feels like no one takes her seriously and she is just spinning her wheels. She decides she needs a change in her life and starts to be a little more daring and adventurous. On a particularly bad night after one too many drinks, she decides to skinny dip and ends up kissing a very attractive man, Caden.

Caden has had a hard life and is not a good guy. He is dangerous and only talks to Rose for one specific reason. He didn’t expect to like her and want to get to know her. But he finds himself wanting to know her, not complete his job against her.

“Our fingers brush, and the heat that shoots through me at her touch makes my knees f--king weak. It’s not just electric. It’s magnetic.”

Fate brings the two together again at a local pub through mutual acquaintances.

“This is incredibly embarrassing and weird considering the last time I saw him I was naked. In his arms. His hands on my a-- and his tongue in my mouth.”

The two have a sizzling chemistry and they can’t keep their hands off each other. Let me tell you, it is HOT! The public scenes are my faves!

“And then there’s the way you were grinding you a-- against my c*ck in the elevator.” He shakes his head but he doesn’t look mad. No, he looks very, very pleased. “You were just daring me to life your skirt and f--k you right there, weren’t you?”

Rose and Caden challenge one another. They are passionate and bring out the best (and at times the worst) in the other. It takes them both a long time to finally learn what they want, as well as to be okay with each other’s secrets. But when they finally make their decisions, it is perfect!! I loved the ending! I can’t wait to find out Lily’s story next!
