Going into this book, I didn't know what to expect. We saw Viper a little bit in the Cranberry Inn series, and he was a player. I figured from what I knew about him that it might be lighthearted and fun. I thought I already knew who the love interest possibly was, but I was so wrong! Once I read the blurb, I knew it was going to be a more serious book, not all sunshine and rainbows. Though even then, I didn't know what was going to happen. The prologue starts off the book in the future and leaves you questioning what happened. And what happened wasn't good.
Viper goes from being a carefree guy who sleeps around, to a guy who is so guilt-ridden he avoids everyone, and what he loves most -- hockey. Viper really goes though a lot in this book. He has to deal with guilt and the loss of someone. He also deals with having feelings for someone he never thought he could have feelings like that for.
I loved this book. Even though it wasn't what I expected, it was still awesome. I cried while reading this book, but I also laughed; even though it is sad in some parts, Viper still finds a way to make you laugh. It was great to catch up with Kacie and Brody and the rest of the gang. This was another great book by Beth Ehemann and I can't wait to read more by this author.
