Review - Rock Solid by Riley Hart

Title: Rock Solid
Series: Rock Solid Construction #1
Author: Riley Hart
Release Date: April 27, 2015

Trevor Dixon has made too many mistakes to count. Sober for thirteen months, he’s determined to do the right thing: rebuild his relationship with his family, and help his brother get Rock Solid Construction off the ground. Failing them again isn’t an option. Too bad the first estimate Trevor goes on alone is for an uptight doctor with a superiority complex.

A hand injury took away the only important thing in Dr. Simon Malone’s life—performing heart surgery. He doesn’t do well with people and has no family, but being a damn good surgeon? He always had that. Now, he doesn’t know who he is. The last thing he wants to deal with is the young construction worker who blows his shot at remodeling Simon’s home.

Trevor and Simon form an unlikely friendship. The more time they spend together, the more Trevor starts wondering if maybe Simon’s not as straight—or uptight—as he thought…and maybe Trevor’s new attraction for Simon runs both ways.

There are too many reasons they shouldn’t be together: they have little in common, their age difference, Trevor needing to focus on his sobriety…yet there’s something about each other that they just can’t shake. They don’t feel so lost when they’re together. But with their footing so unsteady, forming a relationship that’s rock solid seems impossible. There’s blow after blow, and the last one just might be powerful enough to crack their foundation for good.

Read this book. This isn't just a M/M book and it's not just a romance; Rock Solid is beautiful love story with real, broken but strong people trying to find a foundation on which to build a new life. And it's amazing.

Dr. Simon Malone lost everything the night his hand was shattered -- what good is a surgeon who can't wield a scalpel?

Trevor Dixon has done nothing except screw up and, even with over a year's sobriety behind him, he's still making mistakes.

Despite their disastrous first meeting, Simon and Trevor form a friendship that neither expected. And when it becomes something deeper, both have to face their pasts before they can make a future that is Rock Solid.

Oh, how I loved this book. It felt like no time at all had passed, and yet I found myself closing Rock Solid, a little heart bruised and a lot heart happy, after having only picked it up mere hours before.

Simon and Trevor were perfect. Simply perfect in that cracked way -- you know what I mean, right? They're screwed up, messed up, fucked up, but together they're complete and it feels so damn real. Like I could go to this fictional town, find them and they'd be as right there as they are on these pages.

I have not one complaint about this book. Not a single one. Ms. Hart has written a book that's panty-melting, no doubt. But she's also sketched a story about addiction and the daily struggle. About loss and grief and how one copes when the landscape of life is drastically changed. Every single reaction from these men and the people around them felt real and true.

This is my first book by Riley Hart and it categorically will not be my last. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series. My one-click finger is at the ready. 5 Addictive stars.

Can I move into this world of hot men who make out a lot? Please?

This is more than just a story about two men who find love… It’s about overcoming obstacles, facing your past, and coming to terms with the present.

When former addict Trevor goes to make an inspection/quote on a house remodel, he doesn’t expect to find a friend in the owner.

Simon hires Trevor and his company to remodel his new home, but he never planned on finding a friend at the same time…

When the friendship turns to lust, and both men are afraid to act on their feelings, you almost have to stand up and cheer when the first kiss finally happens! I was rooting for these two to finally get their shit together, but then it just got awkward. When they finally realize their true desires for each other, the heat gets turned up. And holy moly, it gets turned way the hell up!

When Trevor and Simon realize their pasts have come back to smack them in the face, will Simon step up and be the man he needs to be? Will Trevor resist his old ways?

Okay, I have to say this: I seriously loved this story. Yes, the sex was hot, but the story was also very moving. It almost seemed personal, and hits you right in the feels. It may not be your story or mine, but it easily relates to us all. We need to be able to reconcile our past to become the person in front of us needs. We also need to let go of the past before we can start living in the present or move on to a future.

Riley Hart is the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. She's a hopeless romantic. A lover of sexy stories, passionate men, and writing about all the trouble they can get into together. If she's not writing, you'll probably find her reading.

Riley lives in California with her awesome family, who she is thankful for everyday.
