Title: Behind His Eyes - Convicted: The Missing Years
Series: Consequences #4
Author: Aleatha Romig
Release Date: May 20, 2014

THE MISSING YEARS is the final piece to Aleatha Romig’s CONSEQUENCES SERIES puzzle. Follow the twists and turns as secrets are revealed, consequences are delivered, and the future is shown.

In CONVICTED we saw what happened that fateful afternoon at the Rawlings Estate. Now experience the shocking repercussions firsthand. More than a companion, this full-length novel fills in the gap of time that was only mentioned, beginning when Claire Nichols forgets and seen through the eyes of collective men (the HIS is plural).

In THE MISSING YEARS, readers will see Anthony Rawlings fight for what belongs to him and cope with the reality of his past. Watch as Harrison Baldwin discovers the truth that threatens his beliefs, and as John Vandersol comes to terms with his revelations. Witness Phillip Roach, as he decides with whom his loyalties lay, and Brent Simmons, as he demonstrates the meaning of friendship—no matter the cost.

As the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, BEHIND HIS EYES CONVICTED goes beyond. This final installment of the series offers a glimpse into the future of the lives that will forever be changed because there was a man who...

Once upon a time, signed a napkin that he knew was a contract. As an esteemed businessman, he forgot one very important rule—he forgot to read the fine print. It wasn’t an acquisition to own another person as he’d previously assumed. It was an agreement to acquire a soul.
—Aleatha Romig, CONVICTED

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Only in His Eyes Stars ☆ ☆☆☆☆

Behind His Eyes: Convicted-The Missing Years was a spellbinding and captivating read that you could not put down. Aleatha Romig did a phenomenal job in this 4th installment where readers are immersed in not only Tony’s POV but also those from Harry, John, Brent and Phil. In their eyes, we are welcomed to a whole new fresh perspective of what these men had to endure from Tony’s legal troubles to Claire being institutionalized. They say the eyes are useless when the mind is blind and so Ms. Romig will open our eyes in this final installment. Nothing is black and white. Love is not perfect. The truth hurts. And behind their eyes is a story to be told.

The passion and love Tony had for Claire was undeniable.  His love and devotion for Claire was seen and felt throughout this book. Tony went through hell and back defending his love for Claire and Nichol. In his eyes, readers got to see the real pain, heartbreak, and  loss Tony had to endure from the trial to his prison time. Every ounce of raw pain, anger, guilt, shame and heartache could be felt.  Tony’s perspective brought a fresh new outlook on what he had to face and admit. His past was something that couldn’t be erased and once his sins were exposed, Tony had to finally face his consequences. Tony’s POV while he was in prison was eye-opening. For the first time, readers got to see the reasoning behind of why Tony wanted set Claire free.

Ms. Romig did an exceptional job in showcasing the strong connection and bond of Tony and Claire. In my opinion, I felt their love was similar to a Chinese proverb called the Red Strings of Fate.  In this proverb, it states “ an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place and circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle. But it will never break.” I truly believe Tony and Claire were fated for each other and were the missing piece to each other’s heart. Though, what started as an unconventional romantic tale, the battles and obstacles they endured was a testament that love conquers all. Tony and Claire are not perfect but the imperfections of their love makes it perfect for them.  They say the beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides and in Claire’s eyes, the love she has for Anthony Rawlings was the only thing that existed.  For years, Tony was living in the dark and Claire and Nichol brought light into his eyes. Behind Tony’s eyes, lies a man who found light, love, and the meaning to live.

What I truly love about this book was that we finally got to know what Claire told Meredith. In the eyes of Harry, Phil, John and Tony, they finally got a glimpse and understanding of what Claire truly felt when she was with Tony. What truly surprised me in this book was that I began to see a whole new side of John and was in love with his character. I began to see that John was indeed a good and honest man. In John’s eyes, we get an inside glimpse that he finally understood that Tony and Claire’s love knows no limits, but ardently transcends all bounds.

Behind His Eyes: Convicted-The Missing Years was a riveting conclusion of this captivating series. Behind Tony’s Rawlings eyes, lies a story of man who was hated, loved and redeemed. Tony and Claire’s story reminds us all that regardless of time and separation, true love isn’t easy but must be fought for. And of course there are always consequences for every action.

Thank you Ms. Romig for bringing us Tony and Claire!

5 No Longer Missing Stars!

From Claire’s telling of her story, so much has happened, and we thought it ended there. But what about what happened behind the scenes? How did things come about and what happened to Tony while Claire was… mentally on vacation?

Welcome to Behind His Eyes - Convicted: The Missing Years, here we get to read and know what else was happening in the story, we are told about the process, the lengths that each character went through to finally be able to face the consequences of their truths and get the conviction that they need and deserve.

Miss Aleatha Romig is brilliant in telling the story from the pivotal male characters’ POVs. She wrote it so well that even though it has been a year since I’ve read Convicted, I had no problem with The Missing Years filling in the gaps in my mind. My curiosity about Tony, Harry, Brent, John and even Phil were quenched and satisfied.

Tony’s love for Claire did not start in the most traditional and acceptable way, but through the years and trials they have faced, both of them proved that love can actually conquer all. Their story may not have been a very easy one to read, but it was strong, enthralling, and will hypnotize you until the very end of their journey to be together after all the consequences of their actions.

I am glad that this blew up into a full-length novel instead of a short one because I couldn’t imagine all of the stories being crammed into less than 300 pages. If you have braved through Tony and Claire’s story, I am confident that reading this final piece of the puzzle will provide you the answers that you felt were unanswered during the first books. That’s what reading this did to me. It even refreshed my memory and gave me “a-ha!” moments that I’ve almost forgotten or missed out on.

This is a very bittersweet read for me, at least at the end of Convicted, Aleatha tells us about her plans for a Tony POV, but at the end of The Missing Years, it’s like I’m saying goodbye again to the couple who held my heart and mind hostage for sometime. Behind His Eyes - Convicted: The Missing Years is the perfect continuation, retelling, and ending to a story so very special that it needed to be told in Tony’s POV to really get the whole picture.

Aleatha Romig is an exceptional story-teller! The way she finished this series blew my mind! I ended this book by closing my eyes and deep sighing, I will surely miss the Rawlings family.

Stars: 5 stars!
Recommended to: Not only romance readers but to everyone who enjoys an emotional, heart-stopping, intriguing story in a different way.
POV: Third person. Multiple (male) POV.
Series: Yes.
Cliffhanger: No.
EXTRA COMMENT: I’m totally wishing on a star here but maybe we’ll see more of them in some way?
